Can you believe it's almost that time?! Me neither..

Second Feature....Tulle Wreath via Cox's Corner!

I watched Craft Wars (recorded) as I prepared these posts. They mentioned that as crafters- we prepared for holidays all throughout the year. That, my friend, is true. It might be because we are trying to keep readers interested- to stay ahead of the "curve", to be prepared with ideas for when it does come...to be able to budget time and/or money to make it happen. We just may be excited and want everything to come together "just so". Whatever reason....Cox's Corner delivers on thinking ahead for next year.

 

I love the reflection of the flag in the wreath...it inspires me! It may just find it's way into OTHER areas of my house...or my kids clothes....or MY clothes!

Tulle Flowers Via Project Wedding

My daughters and I will be making lots of last-minute details for their back-to-school adventure. I think this is beautiful. The tutorial is sublime with crisp photos and simple instructions. I think you could opt for straight tulle (which I think we will be).

DIY Color Block Necklace from Orange Tree Studio

It's not Wednesday, it's Thursday.

 {Mostly for me because re-reading this will knock me off the proper rotation.}

Seeing this necklace made me {gasp!} for air! Mainly because this is something I can do AND it's completely stylish and hip. 

And I'm pretty proud of myself that it still 'goes' with the weekly theme. 'ORANGE Tree Studio' really made a nice one HERE.

Orange You Glad We're Doing ORANGE?

I have a blog-stalker-crush on House of Hepworths. Totally true and totally not worth denying. She is awesome- EPIC, even- to steal her word.

Here's an awesome project I need to tackle...and in a color I'd love to use!  I love the print, the floor-to-ceiling style and that they are ORANGE! Go check them out...she has tutorials, before and after shots and EVERYTHING!

Bugaboo, Mini, Mr. and Me has the most ingenious tutorial for this Pixie Tutu using a skein of yarn and a BIG book. I love how colorful and fun this looks and can COMPLETELY see my little 'bugaboo' in one, too!

Besides being FUNCTIONAL {which I love} but I really like that she used all sorts of random left-over materials. I take personal pride when I can take things that I otherwise would have thrown out and create something worth keeping- or GIVING! Take a second and take a look, you'll be glad you did!

I have had this picture of this sign in my files since the day it was posted...May 24th, 2011. I LOVE this sign. I had EVERY intention on re-creating a sign similar to this sign. I have looked for a frame, I have acquired {and probably lost} the yarn and I was all set to get some foam and get a cuttin'.

Have I?

More than a year after this committal to myself?

Nope. Not really all that close, either.

SO. I'm gonna make this sign. Finally.

A BIG thanks to Courtney over at A Diamond in the Stuff! She may actually be exactly what I need to get my own chairs recovered! I love the distressed chair (though WHITE might not survive in my house) and the burlap section she chose is darling!

Recycled Window Entry-Way

 I started with an old window we found beside a dumpster. Cleaned it up and broke out some of the window panes at the bottom.(Covered both under and over the pane with newspaper and then struck it with a hammer.)

 I found some sheet metal already cut-to-size at my local Lowe's and picked up a couple.

For my center pane, I wanted to use some chalkboard...so I used what I had and cut up a shipping box and some chalkboard vinyl.

 I had some of the box still poking through- I wasn't completely straight with my application. Whoops. I just used a black Sharpie marker to fill in, just-in-case.

 We put the new panels into the window- they were snug enough we didn't need to use any other materials to secure them (lucky us).

We secured it in our entryway above an old hutch I've been using as a table of sorts.

First Feature...Old Windows!

Erin over at Kaminski's Creations submitted this incredible old window project. I really love it for two reasons: 1. I LOVE repurposing items. 2. I ADORE crafts that can also be repurposed, updated, re-done, re-arranged...you get the idea. You'd think I had committment issues.

Erin fashioned this window to serve as a rotation of her scrapbooking. She can put in new pages and put the already showcased pages in a scrapbook. I love that! I love that people will see work that they might not otherwise and I love that it won't be lost after use!
