Simply Stated: Chambray & Stripes

Bag: Tyler Rodan | Clogs: Steve Madden | Chambray: Forever 21 | Necklace: Groopdealz (similar) | Skirt: MMM

Hello ladies! I have the pleasure, once more, to be guest blogging for Mindy Mae’sMarket! First, let me say that I cannot believe we are rapidly approaching March! Holy guacamole, where did the ‘Month of Love’ go?!?  Spring is just around the corner and I am SO ready! It is no surprise that I love bright and cheery colors and incorporate them into my daily work attire, even in the dead of winter.  But I must say, there is something about springtime and the breath of new life that invigorates me and makes me want to bath in a watercolor rainbow bath! Reality Check: It is in the 20’s and snowing! But I could not wait one more second to wear this amazing skirt and decided to style this baby up; winter style!

Style Rule # 569 (Just kidding, there are no such things as style rules!) …. When in doubt, throw on your trusty Chambray, and voila! Yes friends, it’s like magic.  I don’t need to tell you that a chambray is your bff and I found it to be a perfect match to this ridiculously flattering, pocketed (yes I said pockets, people), high waisted, bow-detail skirt that is a sweet springtime delight! Again, reality check, it is not spring so let’s discuss how I styled it on this cold and gray day!

I’m going to be honest; I was a bit thrown for a loop when deciding how I should style this skirt.   I’ve never worn a skirt with this kind of cut and shape (I know, I know, late to the party!) and because I am a petite gal, I didn’t think I could pull it off! But as I have said before, fashion and style should challenge your comfort zone and push personal style boundaries.  It can be fun and fresh, and quite thrilling, when the light bulb goes off and you figure out how an unfamiliar piece can work for you! After many outfit changes, I decided I needed to let this simple and sophisticated skirt speak for itself.   Enter black tights, a great pair of suede clogs, and a touch of leopard!  This is just one of the many ways that skirts and dresses can be worn throughout the cold, winter months.  And did I mention that this skirt has pockets?!?  Ahh, it’s the small things in life!

Fast forward a month or two, I will be tickled pink with excitement and cannot wait to pair it with a bright floral blouse or neon top, sport some bare legs, and rock fabulous sandals or sassy pumps! Add your favorite statement necklace and go-to clutch, and there ya have it sistas = instant perfection!  I think it is absolutely fantastic the plethora of options and ways one can wear this beaut of a skirt and I think I have just scratched the surface! Stay tuned for more!

xoxo, Sara
